Rev. Dr. John A. Krivak, Ph.D., Ed.D. 


A native son of Wind Gap, Pennsylvania, Fr. Krivak entered St. Pius X Seminary in Dalton, Pennsylvania in 1974, and studied at the University of Scranton, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, summa cum laude, in 1978. Thereafter, he entered May Immaculate Seminary, earning his Master of Divinity degree and Master of Theology degree prior to his priestly ordination in 1982. While initially assigned to high school ministry, h earned his Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Doctor of Education degree in the Foundations of American Education from Lehigh University. In 1991, he was recognized for his outstanding high school teaching by the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

In 1992, Fr. Krivak was assigned as the Roman Catholic Chaplain to Muhlenberg and Cedar Crest Colleges. During his tenure as chaplain, he earned his Master of Philosophy degree and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Contemporary Catholic Systematic Theology from Fordham University in New York City. He also taught at several colleges, including Muhlenberg College, where he held the rank of Assistant Professor of Religion and Education, and Alvernia College, where he received the annual Excellence in Teaching Award for part-time faculty.

Presently, Fr. Krivak serves as the Medical Ethicist and the Director of Ecumenical and Interfaith Dialogue for the Diocese of Allentown. He is a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, and a former member of the College Theology Society and the American Meteorological Society. His most recent assignment was Pastor at St. Mary's parish in Catasauqua.

As a theologian and ethicist, Fr. Krivak's interests vary considerably, and he has participated in national conferences on topics ranging from values education to military ethics.

In his spare time, Fr. Krivak enjoys biking, golf, the performing arts, piano studies, and rod and gun club sports. His greatest joy is found in the exercise of his priestly vocation, and in the many treasured friendships that have resulted from his ministry!
